Pollution and causes of pollution

One century or more than it, ago, no one knew about pollution, but today pollution is a world-wide problem. Everyone wants peaceful environment, but it is nature of human that he wants to lead comfortable life, so for this purpose he had invented such things that made his life much easiest and comfortable i.e. a life full of luxuries; he invented vehicles, made factories, machines and many other things. But these things on one hand had made the life luxurious and comfortable, but on the other hand, these polluted our environment, that has made our lives miserable also. Many diseases are spreading now-a-days due to pollution that were not common in past.

“Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into the natural environment that cause adverse change”

According to definition of pollution we can conclude that there are four different types of pollution, i.e

  • Air pollution
  • Water pollution
  • Noise pollution
  • Soil pollution

Air pollution:

“Air pollution is the introduction of chemicalsparticulatesbiological materials, or other harmful materials into the Earth's atmosphere, possibly causing disease, death to humans, damage to other living organisms such as food crops, or the natural or built environment.

Our atmosphere is complex mixture of gaseous system, to make the life possible on the planet Earth. But in the large cities and industrial estates, the whole environment has been polluted. The automobiles (vehicles) are running on roads and discharging their smoke to atmosphere. This smoke contains harmful gases, which are injuries to health. The smoke of industries and factories is also adding poison to the atmosphere.

The smoke emitting from vehicles and industries is continuously thinning the Ozone layer (Ozone layer is that layer which protects earth from harmful radiations, emitting from sun). Scientists have also told that there is a big hole in ozone layer, due to which we are daily listening the news of skin cancer.

For prevention from air pollution we should use those vehicles that do not emit smoke, or in very small amount and we should use chimneys in factories and industries to reduce air pollution.

Water pollution:

“Water pollution refers to the contamination of water bodies such as rivers, oceans, lakes, and groundwater caused by human activities. This can be harmful to plants and organisms which live in these water bodies”.

God has created earth in which, three parts are covered with water while the forth part is covered with drougrt land. But like our atmosphere, we have also polluted water. Millions of factories are discharging their wastes into streams, canals and rivers. This waste contains a variety of poisonous oils and metals. And those factories that are far away from water they are digging big holes and discharging their wastes in them, this waste penetrates in the earth and reaches to water (present under the some layers of earth) and this polluted water pollutes the whole water under the earth.

This polluted water not only affects on our lives but also it affects the aquatic life.

Noise pollution:

“Noise pollution is the disturbing or excessive noise that may harm the activity or balance of human or animal life”.

Noise pollution is of two types.

  1. Outdoor noise pollution.
  2. Indoor noise pollution.

The sources of most outdoor noise pollution are machines and transportation system. Now days vehicle drivers feel pleasure to use horns of high pitch. And the youngers use double and tripled silencers in their motor bikes, which produces much noise. On the other hand, our atmosphere is also affect by noise pollution of heavy machines, using in industries and factories.

While the main sources of indoor noise pollution are machines, building activities, music performances, and especially in some workplaces. Children listen songs of high base and pith. While the small machines used in home also produces noise e.g. sewing machines produces much noise.

This noise pollution effects a rise in blood pressure and   and an increase in stress and vasoconstriction, and an increased incidence of coronary artery disease. While in animals noise pollution can lead to death by listening the voice of gun fire.

Soil pollution:

“Soil pollution is caused by the presence of xenobiotic (human-made) chemicals or other alteration in the natural soil environment”.

Like our atmosphere and water, our soil is also polluted by us. Soil pollution is mainly caused by the improper disposal of waste, agricultural chemicals and industrial activity. We through our wastes in streets and Conduit, due to which we see garbage on every place. We use polyethylene shopping bags and after using we through it, but these shopping bags donot diffuses, and as a result we our soil becomes pollute. Industries that are far away from water they through their wastes in ditches, as a result soil pollutes.

So, from above discussion, we can conclude that if this situation remained constant then life on this planet will impossible. And now for the freedom from pollution we have to take some positive steps and have to raise some movements against pollution.

  Thanks.
