POLLUTION

(Part 6 Final)

In last 5 previous lectures we have briefly discuss and study about the pollution, air pollution, water pollution, Noise Pollution and Soil Pollution. Today we will discuss further type of pollutions which are Hazardous Waste, Solid waste, Solid Waste and Hazardous Waste.

Up till now we have thoroughly study about the Pollution. Now we will see the further terms which are related to the pollution. Which are EI Nino, Global Warming and EI Nino. These are difficult but very important.

EI Nino

Definition:-

Basically EI Nino is Spanish pronunciation. It is defined by extended warming in the Pacific Ocean sea surface temperatures when compared with the average value of Temperature. The accepted definition is a warming of at least 0.5 °C (0.9 °F) averaged over the east-central tropical Pacific Ocean. The name EI Nino Spanish for “the child” refers to the infant Jesus Christ and is applied because the current usually begins during the Christmas season.

The signs of an El Nino are as

  1. Trade winds in the south Pacific weaken or head east
  2. Fall in air pressure over Tahiti and the rest of the central and eastern Pacific Ocean.
  3. Rise in surface pressure over the Indian Ocean, Indonesia and Australia.
  4. Warm air rises near Peru, causing rain in the northern Peruvian deserts

EI Nino is the warming of ocean surface off the western coast of South America and it occurs 4 to 7 years, the average period length is five years. Presently, it is not understood what initiates these changes; basically it is a large combination of things. The current thinking is that it has to do with oscillations such as the Madden-Julian Oscillation in the tropical Pacific, Atmospheric Angular Momentum, and frictional and mountain torque.

During EI Nino fish and birds die or leave the area. These cold-water zones support large populations of commercially valuable fish, which also provide food for seabirds, whose guano is an important component of the regional fertilizer industry. The EI Nino event of 1982 and 1983 was the most severe of the 20th century.

Global Warning and EI Nino

Global warming and EI Nino term is related to the Green house effect. Some scientists have suggested that a human-enhanced greenhouse effect the build-up of gases such as carbon dioxide, methane and ozone that trap the sun’s heat within the earth’s atmosphere is fundamentally altering EI Nino by artificially warming the earth’s atmosphere. They note that, EI Nino events arrived every two to seven years and were generally mild. But in the space of 15 years, there have been two extraordinary EI Nino events. Moreover, between 1990 and 1995 three EI Nino events occurred in a row. Some scientists have argued that together, these events constituted the longest EI Nino in 2000 years.

Other scientists, strongly disagree that EI Nino’s recent history is evidence of global warming. They argue that it is more likely a reflection of random fluctuations in the natural cycle.

That was about the Pollution. Up to that extent we have thoroughly discuss the pollution. We must aware from the pollution. And try to keep this world clean.
