Preserve Afghanistan’s proud heritage! (Part two) Mt. Noshaq

Posted on at

There is a path to the top of even the highest mountain (Afghan proverb)

Mount Noshaq is the highest mountain in Afghanistan and is the second highest independent peak of Hindu Kush after the first highest peak of Hindu Kush in Pakistan. This mount placed in Wakhan the north eastern corner of Afghanistan in Badakhshan Province.

This peak has 7.429 meter-high and the first people that conquered Noshaq in 2009 were Malang Darya and Amirudin.

Mt. Noshaq is the 52nd highest peak in the world that was first climbed in 1960 by a Japanese mountaineering team led by Toshiaki Saki.

This climbing place was off-limits during the years of conflict and instability, but recently the Australian adventurer met Noshaq. This hope signals a sign of stability in the region that can lure international mountaineers and climbers to explore new and unclaimed summits.

Reopening Mt. Noshaq will promote the Wakhan valley as first class adventure destinations and the local economy can thrive as it once did as the Silk Road.
