Granada 1-2 Real Madrid

MATCH ANALYSIS:

Real Madrid played its second away fixture against a tough Granada side although they are sitting at the bottom of La Liga table and have 2nd worse defense in the league but were still able to hold Real Madrid to minimum goals. They pressed the Real Madrid field well and created problems for our midfielders and defenders.The problem with Real Madrid this season is that we are noy playing well away from home and have lost too many points away from home and we need to solve the problems related to our defensive fragilities before facing AS Roma in the UCL round of 16 fixture.

DEFENSE:

Our defense looked fragile as always and Varane saved us many times,Keylor had to come out to sweep up the balls ,Granada surely came in with a plan to tease Real Madrid's high pressing game by lobbing the ball forward towards their roaming strikers in b/w Ramos and Varane whenever Real Madrid lost possession in the attacking half.Marcelo and Carvajal worked hard in both attack and defense but were lacking defensively due to which our defense looked devastated of many occasions especially in the first half.Keylor Navas should have done better there,and i think we might have not conceded if he had stayed on his line and let Ramos and Varane deal with El Arabi.Anyways Keylor did a good job during the rest of the game.

MIDFIELD:

Kroos-Isco and Modric trio definitely faced issues defensively in the start of the game but settled as the game grew (The Modric meriiii jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan moment came here!). Modric lookedlike he wanted a goal tonight ,he had a stinging shot stopped earlier in the first half ,played exceptionally well in the second ,had great passing and movement and was not responsible for losing the ball that elt to us conceding the goal,the referee had caused obstruction in the play but we actually couldn't have blamed anyone for that had we not won this match.

ATTACK:

Benzema and Ronaldo were lively but i felt that both of them were trying too hard and over played the ball when they should have passed earlier or taken a shot themselves.Benzema was selfish on more than 2 occasions tonight and we could have killed the game had he passed to Ronaldo rather than taking a shot at goal himself after he had gone through on goal. Jese and James weren't much impressive tonight and we are clearly missing Gareth Bale in the forward line,it is going to be really difficult for Real Madrid to win anything without Gareth Bale this season.Especially in the away fixtures.

Alhamdulillah 3 very important points in the bag and we can still keep our La Liga hopes alive.Zidane's Real Madrid has now secured 13 out of a possible 15 points.
