Rise of the Cab; Cris Cab and his unique style

Posted on at

If there is anyone you must hear sing by the end of this week, it is Cris Cab

Right of the bat after viewing the kids covers of songs couple years ago, many people knew Cab had the potential to be the next big thing. Cris is rapidly rising to fame; 2 years ago he posted a video of him covering Wiz Khalifas song “Black and Yellow”, which in the first couple weeks had around 150-200k views…which now has 2.5 million views! Take his age into consideration as well…he was 17 at the time, and is 19 now. A Miami native, he is young and unique; and he chose a good time to step into the music industry. And a good technique to try to get into the industry! One of the greatest ways to get noticed when it comes to music is making covers of hot songs. Cris Cab made a name out of himself because of his original style when making these covers; he was a reggae-streaked kid that would make an acoustic cover of a rap track, or adding a reggae touch to a country song…that’s the things he would do (just like he demonstrated in his popular cover of Black and Yellow).

Sky-rocketing to success at the age of 17, he quickly caught the attention music Giants Pharell Williams, Pitbull, and artist Wyclef Jean… however Pharell was involved the most. He met Pharell before he was even YouTube famous; at the age of 15. Cris looked up to Pharell for ages, so meeting him and getting to expose his talent to him was shocking. According to an interview that Cris Cab served, Pharell at the very first meeting enjoyed Cris Cabs music and voice instantly. He gave Cris some advice on things to work on, and soon enough the next year they met again and is was Pharell’s turn to be shocked; Cris Cab improved immensely. Pharell took Cris under his wing and began to help Cris to develop and survive in the tough music industry. Since then, he has been collaborating and working with Pharell, and also Wyclef Jeans, who is like a “brother” to him.

Recently, Cris Cab continued astounding and rising to fame, dropping a mix tape several months ago (containing a collaboration with Wyclef Jeans!). He composed original material such as “Good Girls”, “Living on Sunday” and “(Paradise) On Earth”, with multiple more. Not so long ago, he released his mix tape “Red Road”

Cris Cab fun facts: According to his mom, he has been singing tunes since he was born. His favorite artists include Bob Marley, Coldplay, Sublime, with couple more. Now that’s what I call a variety! He listens to multiple of genres which helps influence his unique music style. Also, his mix tape Red Road was made especially for his fans in Miami, hence Red Road (a street in Miami he spent a lot of time on when he was younger).
