I found I wasn't happy with the previous tests I had done, mostly in terms of the way they looked. I have since decided to design a style on Photoshop which more accurately matches my initial imagination of the film. Here are some examples:

The style I have created is of a very simple and basic design which is what I was after. For the time being, I am happy with the results and am now looking into ways I can transfer this design into either an animation, or a stop motion project.
