Soumya happy but also concerned of his batting

Bangladesh pace all-rounder Soumya Sarkar expressed his satisfaction and said that he has been delighted in triumph of the remarkable ODI series against powerhouse India.

“Primarily, I didn’t think to win the series against India. Later, we could do it. I am really excited for this historic victory in the ODI series,” said Soumya Sarkar, who stacked up 128 from three one day outings with a fifty.

“After this emphatic win, we will try our best to carry on this momentum. We will go out to play against South Africa in the next home series to win the match from the.onset of the series,” Soumya said at team’s hotel before going on four-day leave.

Till the Indian series the left hander played 13 innings and in only one of.those innings had a single figure. But despite his impressive batting average of 40.58 and strike rate of 98.58, he scored just three fifties and a century. His batting graph showed that he got out eight times between 20 to 40 runs out of his 13 innings.

The fact is also hurting the southpaw from Satkhira and after he got out for 40, chasing 318 against India in the final ODI, he expressed his frustration to the New Age.

“I batted well but failing to translate those starts always hurts. It was my mistake that needed to be sorted out”, he said.

The left-handed batsman stroked five spanking boundaries and two splendid sixes on Wednesday for his 40. But the batsman could not hide his frustration being unable to turn his innings into a big one.

“A big score would have helped me to earn more.confidence as well as ease the pressure and put them back to the opposition.”

About Mustafizur Rahman, who showed an outstanding performance with his sublime off-cutter, the 22-year-old opener said that he is proud of Mustafizur’s dazzling performance.

“Mustafiz and me are the sons of Satkhira. I feel proud of his heroic display,” the Satkhira-born lad said.

Citing the name of Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Soumya also said that they all enjoy the captaincy of Mashrafe.

“All we enjoy his captaincy. He really did captaincy well. He injected persistence inside us to do well in the games,” the pace all- rouner claimed.
