Tyson pulled out a new credit card and did his best to try and remember the PIN. At that moment the man who was in line before him, came back into the store. Without hesitation, the man insisted to pay Tyson’s bill. Tyson was absolutely stunned at the man’s generosity and could see that the man wouldn’t back down. For this kind stranger, it wasn’t about the money or any ulterior motive. It was simply about compassion and kindness for another human being. Something Tyson would soon find out. After reluctantly letting the stranger pay for his bill, Tyson asked the man for his name and phone number so he could repay him. The man jotted down some words on the receipt, wished Tyson a good day, and went on his way. Still feeling overwhelmed and grateful, Tyson turned to the attendant and said, “well that doesn’t happen everyday!” He walked out of the gas station and the kind stranger was already gone. As he looked down at the receipt a number was nowhere to be found. It simply said, “John. Pass it on.” John gifted Tyson with more than a paid bill, he laid the foundation for another amazing kindness transaction to ensue. Kindness Quote “Don’t ever forget that you’re a citizen of this world, and there are things you can do to lift the human spirit, things that are easy, things that are free, things that you can do every day. Civility, respect, kindness, character.” ~ Aaron Sorkin Act of Kindness When was the last time you surprised someone with a small, thoughtful gift just because you thought he or she might need it? This month, be mindful of those around you who may be stressed out at work, school or home and surprise them with a personal gift. What a great way to get them through a rough patch. Question of the Month Oftentimes we see people going through difficult times and wonder to ourselves if we, as one person, can make a difference. But for some, one person is all they need; one person can mean the world. Share your experience in the comments below of when you lent your support to someone who didn’t expect it! Your story just may inspire many others to do the same. Kindness Media Book of the Month Subscribe to The Kindness Flash | Archives
