Writing for Women’s Annex has been an eye opening experience. For example, I recently read an article talking about “the Quan” of Film Annex. It’s a metaphor from the movie Jerry Maguire - basically, it means having the total package. It’s not just about making money or getting respect. It’s a little bit of both, plus that extra special something that elevates you above and beyond.

Putting together the total package for women’s empowerment means coming up with a sustainable way to bring women and empowerment together. Adding philanthropy to the mix creates a “two way street” approach to business. Not only do we gain the support of women around the globe through the Afghan Development Project, they gain education in social media and new technology. Everybody wins, and it’s a victory for women’s empowerment. The Quan.

The Afghan Development Project focuses on the education of women in Afghanistan through computer-connected classrooms. This gives them the ability to find information, network with other people and share their stories online with technology. By writing for Film Annex, they're able to earn income to support their education, their families and themselves. When women are given the chance to earn money for themselves and participate in the economy, entire communities benefit. The Quan.

Finding the Quan for women's empowerment isn't hard. It's all about building sustainable philanthropy in communities and working it into your business model. For example, by hiring women in Afghanistan to write blog posts for the site, we gain a fresh new source of content - all while supporting women in other countries. This scenario benefits everyone, and helps build the "total package" business model that businesses are looking for.

Promoting women rights in Afghanistan isn't just good for business, it's good for everyone. Women's Annex provides a way for women to increase their income, gain valuable technological skills and improve their English business writing. Learning to write blogs and content for other types of social media is critical not just for people in developed countries, but for people around the globe. This kind of technological skill can help people in Afghanistan and around the world earn an income in places where they might not have many other options.

By working together, we become stronger. For female empowerment, that's "the Quan".
