Today’s Special – International Literacy Day

This is the day to highlight the importance of literacy among individuals, communities and societies. This day had been announced as International Literacy Day by the UNESCO on 17th November, 1965. From 1966 it has been started to celebrate the day on 8th September. Celebration takes place around the world.

But in India, I rarely found such activities, most probably very few people are aware about the fact. We observe Valentine’s Day, rose day, friendship day, but not the day which we can dedicate towards literacy program by which we can uplift some lives from the slums or from an interior village.

Wish one day we all literate people will be aware to do such activities at least near to our own circle.
