Top 10 for 2013

After watching hours and hours of film and TV this year here are my top 10 in no particular order. 

Here is my favorite films of 2013

1) 12 Years A Slave - this movie was so raw it had me crying all the way through it. 

2) All Is Lost - starring Robert Redford all alone trying to survive being lost at sea. 

3) Mary and Martha - I just watched this HBO film about two mothers who both loose their sons to malaria in Mozambique

4) La Cage Doree - a French foreign film that grossed 1.2 million in 5 weeks is about a older couple who inherit a peace of land in Portugal and need to decide if they will up root their family plus Lannick Gautry is pretty hot

5) The Great Gatsby - one of my favorite books  and I thought Baz Luhrmann did a great job with it

6) Saving Mr. Banks - Emma Thompson is wonderful as the over barring writer unwilling to compromise with Tom Hanks' Walt Disney

7) Before Midnight - part 3 in the series 

8) Gravity - the dreamy George Clooney

9) Spring Breakers - such a crazy unexpected film

10) The Secret Life of Walter Mitty - the last movie I saw in 2013 and the motto of the film is be Adventurous, Brave and Creative and that is what I want to accomplish in 2013. 

I still gotta see Wolf of Wall Street, Inside Llewyn Davis, Blue is the Warmest Colour, Blue Jasmine, Dallas Buyers Club

 

Here is my favorite TV shows of 2013

1) American Horror Story: Coven - Ryan Murphy has once again pushed the boundaries on TV and Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates & Angela Basset are such a treat to watch

2) Downton Abbey - watching Lady Mary deal with being a widow and poor Anna's struggle with being rapped, plus Shirley MacLaine & Paul Giamotti were such fun to watch in the Xmas special

3) Breaking Bad - need I say more

4) Dexter - thru all the ups and downs over 8 seasons I saw Dexter through and I almost gave up during season 6 

5) Prisoners' Wives - a short second season with a couple of my favorite British actors Polly Walker and Iain Glenn

6) The Good Wife - this season finally brought us the tough Alicia

7) Luther - two words; Idris Elba 

8) Orphan Black - starting Canadian Tatiana Maslany

9) Orange Is The New Black - a Netflix original based on a true story

10) The Newsroom - as many Sorkanisms as there are in this I still love it
