Types of pipes in term of civil engineering

Posted on at

We use different type pipes to carry water or other liquid. Generally types of pipes are given below.

Cast Iron Pipe:-
Cost Iron Pipes are made by the Cost Iron. These pipes are available in 5 cm to 120cm dia. These pipes are protected against rust. Cost iron pipes are durable and their average age is 100 year.
G.I Pipe:-
G.I stands for Galvanized Iron. After preparation of these pipes, the pipes are sinker into Zinc Solution. This process is called Galvanizing. So, these pipes are called Galvanized Iron Pipe. These are protest against Acidic and Alkaline water.
Wrought Iron Pipe
These types of pipes are used to carry water, gasses and other liquid under pressure. These are light weight. These are easy to cutting, threading and bending.
Steel Pipe

This type of pipe is made of steel sheet. These pipes are also galvanized. These Acidic and Alkaline water rust them. Due to less wall thickness they pressed under low pressure.
Copper Pipe

These pipes are made in small diameter. These are costly pipes. So the use if this type pipe is limited. This type of pipe is used for hot water and steam.
Plastic Pipe

It includes P.V.C and rubber pipes. Warm water destroyed them. These are easy to cutting, bending and jointing. These types of pipes are safe against Electric current.
Asbestos Cement Pipe
These types of pipes are prepared by cement and Asbestos Fiber. These are used to carry water under low pressure. These are easy for transportation.
P.P.R Pipe

This is new type of pipe. Which is similar to plastic, rubber and P.V.C pipe? Acidic and Alpine water can be passed by it. It is available is reasonable price.
Concrete Pipe

Now a days this type of pipe is used . For low pressure Plain Concrete pipe are used and for high pressure Reinforced Cement Concrete pipes are used. These are available in different diameter.
