Vishal Bharadwaj’s Haider is all set to be released soon

Vishal Bharadwaj is all set to release his upcoming movie Haider which is the adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet on the 2nd October, 2014. After the success of his first two movies of the Shakespeare trilogy which are Maqbool in the year 2003 and Omkara which was released in the year 2006, Bharadwaj is ready with the third part of the trilogy which is Haider. Maqbool was based on the Shakespearian play Macbeth and Omkara was Othello and now Haider (Hamlet) is ready to hit the movie screens on a worldwide level.

Cast of Haider matching the characters of Shakespeare’s play

Haider is written by none other than Vishal Bhardwaj himself along with Basharat Peer. The movie is produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Vishal Bhardwaj. The cast of the movie includes Shahid Kapoor as the main lead Haider which in the play was Prince Hamlet and Shraddha Kapoor plays the part of Ophelia, her character name in the movie being Arshia.   

In the movie you will also find Tabu playing the part of Gertrude, Haider’s mother and the role of Haider’s father (King Hamlet) is played none other than the veteran actor Irrfan Khan. Kay Kay Menon plays the character of Haider’s uncle Claudius. Apart from these main characters you will find Narendra Jha, Lalit Parimoo, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Rajat Bhagat, Aamir Bashir, Ashish Vidyarthi and Sumit Kaul in this movie.

Shooting of Haider and the Plot

The third and final episode of Vishal Bharadwaj’s Shakespearian trilogy, Haider was filmed entirely in Kashmir. The story which surrounds around the disappearance of Irrfan Khan, Haider’s father, after which Tabu, his mother marries Kay Kay Menon who is Haider’s uncle, was shot extensively in Srinagar, Pahalgam and Baramulla. Right from Dal Lake in Kashmir you will find that the movie takes you to several places in and around Kashmir such as Aishan Sahab Zaina Kadal Bridge which is located in Srinagar, Nishat Bagh, , Martand Sun Temple, Sonamarg and Hazratbal.
