What I learned (Part 1)- A Crewing Blog

Posted on at

So I've done a few fun anecdotes and lessons in some blogs, and what I actually did, so, like an essay, I've decided to bring the things I've learned together into a couple of blogs, like my previous round up.

A quick apology, in advance, I may repeat myself, so sorry, but if you haven't read any of my previous blogs this will be a good summing up.

I learned a lot about script editing, being objective and working toward what the person wanted and not what my ideas where, but of course still keeping my ideas in the script.

What I have learned on a practical level is some technical skills, such as lighting and live lighting changes. on the shoot that I was on as runner but had to take over as lighting assistant, I had to help perform a live lighting change, but not only did it involve communication between myself and the lighting technician, but also on 2 different side of the room on 2 different sets of sliders to create the perfect lighting change.

And I'm proud that it only took 2 attempts and both where useable.

In post production I learned a lot about after effects just by watching my friend work on it and helping him. It was a great experience and I may go on in the future to learn the software more.

So that's the more practical level of what I learned, so stay tuned for what I learned on a more spiritual level.

So thanks for reading and I'll see you soon.
