Many Filipinos suffered poverty from the day they are born. Most of them can’t afford to sustain their education. Instead of going to school, they would prefer to find a job at young age to provide their daily needs like foods, clothing and home. But the problem is, after how many hours of hard work, it’s still not enough even for food to feed their family. No new clothes, no safe home that you can call one. There is a law that every worker should receive a minimum wage that a company should provide for their employees. But believe it or not, many companies pay their employees below the minimum salary. The hard fact is to rather receive it than getting nothing. Others advised to work hard, but despite all the hardships those words are not enough. There are many available jobs but the problem is the salary is not enough to sustain education of their family, enough food to feed three meals a day. Those who are rich become richer and those who are poor become poorer.

To have a higher salary is to finish higher education. Many are fortunate to finish Bachelors Degree because of a wealthy family. Others enter dangerous jobs like entering mix martial arts or boxing. But not all are luck and physically gifted like Manny Pacquiao. Others suffered death. The best solution that comes up the minds of the poor is to work overseas. They will rather borrowed money to their friends or other lending companies for them to buy plane tickets. Other companies abroad accept employees even for those who have just finished high school, but receive higher salary than here in the Philippines. Having a short course and pass the certification, they can now work abroad. To find a good job with high salary is hard here in the Philippines because of growing competition. Graduates increase yearly, but not all find the right company for them. Even graduating with a good course, you’ll still start with the minimum salary that is not enough to sustain your daily needs. It is even harder to help your family and give back their sacrifices for you to graduate. The value of peso is so low compared to other currencies. That is why when you work abroad and save enough money, converting those to peso will be a lot. Many houses are built, new cars are bought and new businesses are established due to the savings of their love ones working abroad. The saying “they are rich because his son/father/mother is working overseas” became popular. To build your own home and to have a new car takes years of saving money here in the Philippines especially for those ordinary workers. The tax has increased but the salary is increasing slowly like a walking turtle.

Most of the Filipinos believe that the best opportunity lies on working overseas. Many of our professionals have leave their current job and transferred on different companies abroad for much higher salary. Even the doctors choose to become nurse abroad because of higher offers. I can say that Filipinos are one of the hardest working abroad and one of the best. Many succeed but many suffer and die especially those who are working near the war zone countries. Some women are victim of rape and abuse. But in spite of danger, they will rather face it than to go home and see its family not having something to eat and children not attending school.

The government must do the best solution with this problem so that no more family will be to far from theirs. They should provide the best jobs and make the economy better. The corruption must end. This problem is not always mention but it is the hard reality. I’m a Filipino, that’s why I know.
