You must be getting those Porn Spam Tweets or “Twits,” as I am on a fairly routine basis. Why no Klout score though with the “Followed You” message? All I have to go with is vaguely suggestive photos and names like “Oralee Hummingbird”, “Brig Titter”, “Virginia Tighten” and my favorite “Ashley Upton”! Did Porn Twits Help Defeat a Horny Despot? Censoring such Twits? Always slippery slope and none of us are obliged to “Follow Back.” Anyway, I have a sneaking suspicion that reason Colonel Gaddafi never shut down the social media networks during revolution was because he believed all the “Followers” from Porn Spam actually “all of them, they love me!” (Don’t believe that the Colonel ever read the directions and warning label to his Viagra stash – and went to the hospital after the erection lasted more than 4 hours!). Real Issue of Sexual Exploitation: Which leads me to the next question – the photos that come with the Porn Spam appear to be only a few of the same women. Is there now a new category of professional “porn-Twit models”? This is where I must admit to some unease though, and at least for a moment reflect on a serious question: does Porn Spam signal a new means of exploiting women/girls? This is particularly a risk when dealing with a global platform – where across border exploitation of the vulnerable and women may be facilitated by new technology. Let me be clear: this is not a sexual morality concern for me (leave that up to Rick Santorum and his prude agenda - only reminding him that we have choice as to whether or not engage with Porn). This can be though a human and human rights issue driven both by empathy and considerations of legality/justice.
