Bon Odori Japanese Summer Festival

DESCRIPTION

Previously, I posted a video showing the Karaoke Contest of the Bon Odori 2017 held at the SRP Grounds in Cebu City. It was a fun activity. You can check the entire video on the link below:

This new video which I have posted covers the entire activities we had witnessed. Unfortunately, it was already late at night and we need to go home so we didn't wait for the event to finish. There were other activities such as the Bon Odori Dance and the most anticipated part - the fireworks display which would mark the end of the event.

However, we did see some other fun activities like the Rice Pounding where there were local Japanese men who are indeed Rice Cake makers themselves who flew from Japan so they can share to us the traditional way of making these Rice Cake.

Then the next event we have seen was the Hapon 3 show . In this part, three pure Japanese comedians came up on stage and shared some funny skits to the entire audience. They can speak a lot of Tagalog words as they had been here in the country a couple of times.

Third was the Karaoke Contest which was shown on the previous video. It includes singers who sang original Japanese Songs and were judged accordingly. I had mentioned that the winner was the girl who sang the Voltes V theme song.

There was also the Yukata Contest. It showed contestants in their respective Yukata dress, the traditional dresses of Japanese. It was cool to see them though and I also hoped that someday I can wear that kind of dress. By the way, there were Yukata dresses for sale at the event.

The last part which we were able to watch was the Cosplay contest. It showed few cosplayer acting according to the characters they portrayed. There were only a few contestants and I understand it was because the previous day, this activity was already performed, that was a two day event by the way.

But one thing that really encouraged me to go there were the people around who dressed and acted as how they were dressed. There were lots of event goers who cosplayed themselves and everyone took photos and videos just like what we did.

Hope you enjoy the video.

Best regards,
Jean Beltran-Figues
