DESCRIPTION

Film Annex sponsored the New York Open Judo Tournament that took place at the New York Athletic Club on March 2nd, 2014. For the first time, the event hosted a female competition between Team USA and Team Japan. In the last Olympics, the Female USA athletes got the first USA Gold medal in the history of US Judo with Kayla Harrison and a Bronze medal with Marty Malloy. They proved that Women's Judo is a very relevant sport for the US. It's Film Annex's intention through the support of the Women's Annex Foundation to expand the NYAC Judo championships to more female athletes. In this video, Fereshteh Forough interviews the female athletes of Team USA. Although Judo is considered a male dominated sport, there are many female athletes in this combat sport who want to prove that gender issue isn't a reason for keeping them away from what they want.
