Permian Investment Partners: Alex Duran on Portfolios with Purpose and Philanthropy
Alex Duran is currently the Portfolio Manager and co-Founding Partner of Permian Investment Partners (http://www.permianlp.com). Founded with Scott Hendrickson in 2008, Permian is a global, predominantly Western European, long/short investment fund focused on investing behind talented new CEOs entering mismanaged companies. Prior to joining Permian, Mr. Duran worked at Brahman Capital as an Investment Analyst from Fall 2005. Brahman Capital is a multi-billion dollar hedge fund that was founded over twenty years ago. Prior to joining Permian, Mr. Duran was an Investment Banking Analyst at Goldman Sachs. He graduated with Highest Honors from The University of Texas at Austin where he earned a BBA in both Honors Business and Finance.
Mr. Duran is also Vice-Chairman of Portfolios with Purpose (“PwP”), a registered 501(c)(3) founded by Stacey Asher. PwP unites the general public with some of the world's most renowned investors in an effort to bring global awareness to impactful philanthropic causes. PwP accomplishes this mission through hosting an annual stock selection competition in which participants compete on behalf of their favorite charities. Many of the finance industry’s most renowned investors and philanthropists, including Daniel Loeb (Third Point), David Einhorn (Greenlight), Leon Cooperman (Omega), and Leon Cooperman (Omega) are participants and supporters of the organization.
