The Fantastic Greta Gerwig Talks About FRANCES HA

Uploaded on Wednesday 5 June 2013

DESCRIPTION

Greta Gerwig gives one of the most affecting performances this year in Noah Baumbach’s “Frances Ha.” The actress also co-wrote the film with her “Greenberg” director. Frances is a contradiction of sorts – she lives in New York but doesn’t have an apartment; she is an apprentice for a dance company but she’s not really a dancer. She has not fulfilled her dreams yet but she’s hopeful and equally joyful. “Frances Ha” is a thoughtful character study on ambition and failure and eventually, redemption.

In this interview, we talked about:
What made her want to not just star in the film but co-wrote it as well
Is the character a big autobiographical?
The film’s French New Wave feel
The fantastic soundtrack
The innocence of her character -- Frances
We can all identify with Frances
