2 college students go missing in Jaflong

Two college students went missing while bathing in the Piain River at tourist sport Jaflong on Wednesday afternoon.

The victims were identified as Abdullah Antar, 18, son of M Sanaullah, and Sohagh Ghosh, 17, son of Saker Ghosh of Wari in the capital. They were the Class-XI students of Kabi Nazrul College in the capital.

Victims’ friend Tanvir Ahmed said they—six friends—came to Jaflong to spend their Eid holiday.

Abdullah and Sohagh went missing while all of the friends were taking bath at the river around 3pm.

Upazila nirbahi officer of Goainghat M Salauddin said fire service members from Sylhet launched a rescue operation at 5pm. However, they could not be rescued till filing of this report at 9:30pm.
