Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund Tips (29/04)

Posted on at

Jurgen Klopp is looking to lead Borussia Dortmund to a trophy in his last season with the club, although he will have to overcome Bayern Munich in this DFB Pokal semi-final in order to do so.

Bayern Munich are in the hunt for another treble this season. Die Roten managed to win an unprecedented treble two seasons ago and their manager, Pep Guardiola, has previously coached Barcelona to a league, cup and Champions League treble, so as difficult as it is to achieve, you wouldn't put it past Bayern.

Indeed, Germany's most dominant club secured yet another Bundesliga title this weekend with a 1-0 win over Hertha Berlin. That leaves just the two cup competitions to win and with two difficult semi-finals coming up, this is a key stage of the season for Munich. We're backing them to win at home in this game at 1/2 with Bet365.

Jurgen Klopp will be desperate to end his Borussia Dortmund career on a high. The BVB boss has been incredibly successful during his stint at the Westfalenstadion, winning two Bundesligas and a DFB Pokal during his seven years, along with reaching the final of the Champions League, but he's set to leave the club this summer.

It's been a difficult final season for the former FSV Mainz man and his team though. At one stage, BVB even looked like they may have to cope with a relegation  battle, but some better form in the second half of the season has seen them rise to a still-unacceptable eighth place. A Dortmund win is 6/1 with Ladbrokes and the draw is 7/2 with BetVictor.

Bayern Munich are just too strong for most teams in the Bundesliga. Even though Dortmund have possibly the second best squad in the country, they cannot compete with Munich and that has shown during the two league matches the teams have played out this season, with Bayern winning both by one goal.

And that's exactly what we expect to happen in this game. Bayern have won most of their recent domestic games by the odd goal and they just have enough players to grind out a victory - even against the most resilient of opposition. We're backing Bayern to beat Dortmund by a single goal for the third time this season at 11/4 with Stan James.

The question then is who will be the man to break the deadlock? With so many attacking players at Guardiola's disposal, it's sometimes difficult to pick a goalscorer bet for Bayern Munich games. Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery and a few others are missing though, so we're plumping for the favourite - Polish forward Robert Lewandowski.

As a former Borussia Dortmund man, he'll be desperate to prove the difference in this game. Given that he's bagged an impressive 22 times so far in his first season at the Allianz Arena, including recent braces against Porto and Frankfurt, we're expecting him to do just that. Any time, he's priced at evens with Betfair.

This game will certainly be an interesting one. The BVB fans and players will be desperate to reach the final of this competition to give Jurgen Klopp a great send off - but they'll be hard pushed to overcome rivals Bayern Munich, given the dominance they appear to have over ever other side in Germany.
