Ecstasy of St. Agnes is a state of mind. All characters try to say something absolute, something which would be absolutely defined from their self-mythologizing point of view. And they are not able to. Where does it lead to? Is it the erratum of youth or life in general meaning? Starting to be satisfied with fragments of thoughts, fragments of past and projections of desire. It seems there is just emptiness: love is not enough / love is not enough is love. Enlightenment comes at the end.
