Celebrities convert to Islam all the time. From Muhammad Ali to Cat Stevens, you are probably well aware of the high profile converts. Such people have improved the image of our great religion by being outstanding role models.
As Muslims, we love hearing about high profile people reciting the “Kalmah”. And the internet keeps converting celebrities that we love. Such news is often met with exhilaration, followed by dismay on finding out the truth. Here are some such celebrities that converted to Islam according to the internet. Let’s see if you can figure out which ones didn’t actually convert.
1. Lindsay Lohan
Earlier in 2015, news broke out that the party-girl, Lindsay Lohan had converted to Islam after she was spotted carrying the Holy Quran. For what it’s worth Quran calls alcohol an abomination, so we are not quite sure how it worked out for Lindsay.
2. Dave Chappelle
Chappelle is known as one of the hardest hitting comedians of all time, taking on the likes of Oprah and others in his skits. In 1998, he converted to Islam and soon after stopped his over-the-top gig on Comedy Central.
3. Madonna
All Madonna had to do was to let it be known to her fans that she was reading Quran to spark rumors that she converted. It is quite possible that after 50 years of being a bad girl, she has had a change of heart.
4. Mike Tyson
One of the fiercest and most controversial boxers to have ever graced the ring, Mike is known to have accepted Islam while he was in jail for rape charges. The picture above in Makkah from 2010 is proof enough.
5. Britney Spears
Spears has gone through some major ups and downs in her career. Soon after divorce from her first husband, the single mom, was rumored to be desperate to land a new one. in 2008, news broke out that she wanted to convert to Islam to be with her “then” man of dreams, Adnan Ghalib.
6. Michael Jackson
In 2008, various reports came out that Michael had converted to Islam. The news gathered credibility when later it was reported that Michael had changed his name to Mikael. The legend died soon after so the mystery remains a mystery.
7. Janet Jackson
Janet Jackson converted to Islam in 2013 to be able to marry her Muslim fiancé, Wissam Al Mana. She has brothers who are Muslims, so it isn’t really that much of a surprise.
8. Liam Neeson
From 2012 to 2014, Liam Neeson converted to Islam a few times according to newspapers and the internet. In 2015, Liam came out with the statement that he hadn’t. But for all we know, he could be protecting himself and his family.
9. Neil Armstrong
Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon was a Muslim. The story goes that Neil Armstrong first heard the Azaan during his walk on the moon and converted on the spot.
10. Undertaker
Taker met a Saudi man on a plane, got photographed. Next moment you know, he’s Muslim.
11. MS Dhoni AKA Dilawar Khan
Delhi magazine Outlook published a photocopy of Dhoni’s Nikahnama stating that Dilawar Khan Singh Dhoni accepted Aisha Bi Singh Rawat as his wife on 04 July 2010 at a mehr of Rs 1,111,000. Dhoni wanted a second marriage. What better way than this?
12. George Clooney
Clooney is known as a playboy. The news that he converted came out when he was in a relationship with Fatima Bhutto the granddaughter of Zulfiqar Bhutto. Currently he is engaged to one Amal Alamuddin and rumor mills are at it again. After all, how can a non-Muslim have an affair with a Muslim?
13. Prince Charles
In the late 90s, news broke out that Prince Charles had converted. The news has been repeated several times since then with several Islamic websites stating that he is in fact a closet Muslim.

Baby baby baby.. oooh! Yeah it’s true.

16. Mr. Bean
Rowan Atkinson, recently spoke about his conversion. He explained that the movie on the Prophet’s (PBUH) life called “Innocent of Muslims” was main reason he converted.
17. Snoop Dogg
Snoop Dogg’s been on record for having changed religions as often as he kicks his drug habit and takes it up again. Not sure if he is currently Muslim, but he will be again soon enough.
18. Angelina Jolie
She has to be one of the easiest targets for internet Muslim converters. She visits Pakistan often, is often seen wearing the shalwar kameez and conversing with Mullahs. Muslim or not, she is one fine-looking lady.
19. Will Smith
The Fresh Prince had this to say about Islam, “Islam is a peaceful religion and if good people such as Muhammad and Will can carry that message then it would be wonderful. It would be a positive message for peaceful Muslims all over the world.”
20. Veena Malik
This one is the hardest to believe. But she did appear in a religious program last Ramadan and hasn’t dropped her clothes in a while. Too mean? On a serious note, we want to congratulate Veena since she is about to become a mother for the second time. She has really turned her life around and deserves all the credit for it.
