If viewed from the aspect of sociology, social change is the change that occurs in the community, both in terms of norms and culture. Change can occur because of the desire for a better life and can also be forced by the circumstances. Change will always happen, either consciously or unconsciously. Here are some of the factors causing social change. We classify it into two factors: internal factors and external factors. Immediately, we see the first one:

1. Internal factors

Internal factor is the factor of social change comes from within the community itself. The factor assortment of the changes in population size, new discoveries, conflicts in society, and rebellion or revolution.
1.1. Changes in Population

Changes in population size can be caused by decreased or the increase of population. Population growth causes social change. As in Java whose population is growing. This led to the development of the system of land ownership so that no land disputes between residents.

Depopulation caused by urbanization or migration from villages to cities. So that in the event of a vacancy village because there is nothing to manage. This leads to social change occurs in the rural areas.

1.2. New Findings

The discovery of adding or developing a culture in society. The discovery of new cultural elements called discovery. But, of course, the invention is not yet fully accepted by society. The introduction, development, and knowledge of the elements of the new culture is needed so that discovery into invention. Invention is the discovery that has been accepted and has been applied by the community.

An example is the invention of the automobile. At the beginning of discovery, of course, can not be accepted by the public as a substitute horse-drawn carriage. Although the car is easier to maintain. But at that price is still very expensive and the speed is not as fast as a horse carriage. So that development continues to be done to reduce the price and improve the performance of the car.
1.3. Conflict In the Community

Conflicts in society caused by the differences in society. Although the conflict is dissociative or divisive relationships within the community. Conflict must be accompanied by a process of accommodation that it can reinforce social ties. This is apparent when we compare the situation before the conflict and after conflict

1.4. Rebellion or Revolution

Revolution happened because of strong public desire for change. While the rebellion occurs because strong public desire for change was rejected by the community leaders. Revolution lead to social change on a large scale. An example is the events of the revolution in Russia in 1917 which led to changes in the former Russian empire turned into a dictatorship of the proletariat is grounded in Marxist doctrine.

2. External Factors

External factors are the cause of social change comes from outside the community. As for the factors are of nature, war, and the influence of other communities.
2.1. nature

Factors of nature is a factor which can not be avoided because it is the will of God. Factors of nature could be natural disasters or climate change. So that people have to adapt to the natural factors or must leave their homes.
2.2. Battle

War will certainly lead to social change in society. Especially on the losing side in the war. That is because by the losing party must accept ideas or culture of the winning side. Resulting in massive changes in society.
2.3. Influence of Other People

The relationship did physically between the two communities have a tendency to cause reciprocal influence one of which is cultural exchange. If the influence of a culture can be accepted without force, it is called demonstration effect. If the influence of a culture of mutual refused, then called cultural animosity. If a culture has a higher level than other cultures, it would appear that the imitation process gradually native cultural elements can be shifted. The meeting is due to mass communication there is between the two sides.
