Nilesh Nirbhavane, who was a back-up dancer in the Bollywood movie "ABCD 2", has been arrested for allegedly gang-raping a mentally-challenged teenager in Mumbai.

According to the Pant Nagar police, 20-year-old Nirbhavane, along with another person, gang-raped the 14-year-old girl in public toilets in Mumbai's Ghatkopar over two months since May this year.

The girl revealed about the gang-rape to her teacher when she noticed a change in her behaviour and asked the teenager about it.

The teacher then informed the girl's parents, who lodged a complaint with the Pant Nagar police on 25 June.

In the complaint, the girl had claimed that three persons were involved in the gang-rape. The police interrogated one of the them and found him to be innocent.

The girl had also mentioned about a person who had two broken front teeth.

Based on the description, the police detained Nilesh Nirbhavane on 26 June, who reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation.

The police said Nirbhavane and the other accused used to take the 14-year-old girl to public toilets and other isolated places and rape her.

Nilesh Nirbhavane has been booked under IPC sections 376D (gang rape), 377 (unnatural offences) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), along with relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, reports Mid Day.

Nirbhavane has been reportedly remanded to police custody till 4 July. The second accused is yet to be arrested.
