1.4: Market Growth Rate:

Performance of Agriculture Sector:

Despite experiencing significant losses due to flooding, especially in the cotton and rice, 3, the agricultural sector grew by 1.2 percent per year. This growth exceeded the previous year and amounted to (to know, sugar cane and wheat) especially cattle sub-sector, through two small plants and crops which follow.

Higher price for the previous crop of sugarcane, favorable weather conditions and timely
Availability of inputs, has helped to improve sugar cane production to 55.3 million tons - an increase of 12 percent from the 2010 harvest size. Fortunately, the yield increased to a record level of 56 tons per hectare. But even at this level, the performance of recent years is very low compared with other countries in the production of sugar cane (see Figure 2.1).
Record wheat crop of 24.2 million tons, up 3.9 percent in FY11 against a decline of 3.0 percent a year earlier. The increase in wheat production due to: (a) the availability of quality water, (b) the favorable weather conditions, and (c) an increase in the use of fertilizers, and (d) provision of free seeds to the areas affected by floods.

Market size in agriculture majorly depends upon the seed production and seed consumption (farming). Below is the performance and production facts and figures of private seed production companies in Pakistan.
