Amarnath

Amarnath is the holy place of Hindus. In the months from June to August— one of the most holy pilgrimages to the holy snow fully clad cave place of worship of Lord Shiva in the beautiful state of Jammu & Kashmir. Above of all Hindu pilgrimages, Amarnath is located at a height of 3,880 meters in Himalayas is considered one of the sacred pilgrimage.

 

No pilgrim is permitted to go on for the Yatra without appropriate registration. A medicinal certificate is necessary before registering as a pilgrim. The Pahalgam road is release for vehicular traffic. But the last 24 km to the sacred cave have to be travelled by foot. Sufficient actions are taken to make these twisted tracks easier. Preparations are made for right supply of drinking water to the pilgrims throughout the road of the holy cave. PDDA ensures continuous power supply from Sarbal Sar till the holy cave, mainly after sunset. The DOH ensures food and supplies. And cooperatives keep sufficient stock of medicines, oxygen, firewoods etc.

Legend says that on a day in the month of Shravan, Lord Shiva narrated ' Amar Katha' to his wife Goddess Parvati. The Amarnath Yatra is truly a paradise for all the pilgrims.
