“I’m delighted to meet the Foreign Minister, especially so soon after my arrival. We talked about how deep and broad the relationship is between the U.S. and Bangladesh, how we are both committed to increasing that even more. We also discussed the absolute tragic situation at the moment with the level of violence that is going on in the country, and how everyone has a role to play in stopping that violence. Bangladesh is blessed with democracy, and there is a space within that democracy to resolve differences, so we reiterate our call from Washington that everyone plays a role to stop the violence and to move into that democratic space that Bangladesh is blessed to have.”
