A study by "Women Who Use Drugs in Northeast India" in Arunachal Pradesh claims that 2.1 per cent of females in the state are opium users" and a majority of them were introduced to opium after marriage, by their husbands, considering the population as a whole, it is claimed that 6.4 per cent in the state had taken drugs at least once in life.
