Apple Music launches on Android

Apple Music has launched on Android.

Roughly six months after it first launched on iOS, the streaming music service has launched on Google's Operating System in every country except China.

As it does on iOS, the Android version of Apple Music comes with a free three month trial, as well as access to Beats 1 Radio, the Connect social media service, My Music and For You recommendations.

Apple's SVP of internet software and services Eddy Cue told Techchrunch that the launch was part of Apple's desire "to do things for everyone when it came down to music".

"Part of that was letting you enjoy your music no matter where you were and what products you were using." he said -- referring presumably to iTunes availability on Windows platforms, which has formed a cornerstone of the success of iPods since the early 2000s.

Requiring Android 4.3 or later, the Apple Music app looks more or less the same as the iOS version -- though obviously with some design differences due to the way Android works. It's lacking a few features too -- there are no music videos, and you can't sign up in-app for a family pass for some reason, though that feature will work if you've signed up on iOS.
