10. Seoul, South Korea, rounded out the top ten. YouthfulCities is operating in 25 of the large urban centres worldwide and collecting data on 80 indicators, grouped into 16 categories ranging from public space, transportation and affordability to employment and political participation.
9. Tokyo, Japan, scored highly in 'Economic Status' which looked particularly at minimum wage and housing.
8. Los Angeles, California. The city came out top in the entrepreneurship category.
7. London, UK, scored well for diversity and financial access but was pushed down because of high unemployment - finishing last among North American and European cities in this category.
6. Chicago, Illnois, is a bit of an underdog. It finished top five in six of the 16 categories and top three in four more.
5. Paris, France, is perhaps unsurprisingly ranked first in art and fashion, one of the 16 categories considered in the index.
4. Dallas, Texas, was judged highly in the Sports and Gaming category and Public Spaces but was second to last for Envirornmental Stability.
3. Head to New York City if you're young and unemployed - it finished second overall in the Youth Employment category.
2. Berlin, Germany, is the highest ranking European city. It ranked particularly highly in the film and music category because of its number of film and music festivals.
1. Toronto, Canada, was the best city for young people. It ranked highly on diversity and music and film but almost lost out on top spot because of safety and mental health.
