The Costa del Sol a Spanish treasure

 

The Costa del Sol is regarded as a true Spanish treasure, located on the South Coast of Spain in the Andalucía providence, the area has become a tourism hotspot. The name Costa del Sol translates as the ‘coast of the sun’ and you only have to look at pictures of the area to know that it has been well named.

 

What was once a collected of small fishing villages have blossomed into an array of lively seafront holiday resorts that attract thousands of visitors from across the world every year. The region is particularly popular with visitors from Britain who head to the region to take in the year-round sunshine, beautiful beaches, world class restaurants and vibrant nightlife.

 

With so many different resorts there’s a place for everyone on the Costa del Sol. Here are some of the best places to stay if you’re planning a trip to the area.

 

Malaga

 

Malaga is the capital of the Costa del Sol and the gateway to the region as the home of the areas international airport – Malaga Airport. The city has a population of 560,000 and although it was once considered to be the poor cousin of nearby Seville it is now regarded as one of Spain’s most popular tourist cities.

 

Marbella

 

Marbella is arguably the Costa del Sol’s most renowned resort made famous by the number of rich and famous tourists that enjoy holidays in the city every year. An absolutely stunning city with huge white washed villas, golden beaches and a nightlife that rivals that of anywhere in the world it’s easy to see why Marbella is such a great holiday resort.

 

Benalmadena

 

Benalmadena is another popular holiday resort in Costa del Sol. Located between the cities of Malaga and Marbella the town is famous for its long stretch of high quality beach. Benalmadena offers holidaymakers everything they need for a perfect holiday – great beaches, good shops, top restaurants and a lively nightlife scene.

 

Nerja

 

Nerja is a historical fishing village with beautiful sandy beaches and clear blue waters. Much of the village remains in its original state with plenty of lovely white washed villas and traditional narrow Spanish streets. This is a quieter resort and is favoured by those that like a mixture of historical Spain with a touch of modern living.

 

Torrox

 

Torrox is another small village with a rich history and lovely Spanish charm. In a similar style to Nejra Torrox has an abundance of narrow streets and bleached white homes. There are some nice holiday villas and townhouses available to rent in Torrox in addition to plenty of nice restaurants and peaceful beaches.
