Court disposes of petition against declaring Dilip Kumar’s house as national heritage

The court directed the petitioner to move the concerned department for cancellation of the respective notification issued by the KP Archives Department to this effect. The court comprising Justice Nisar Hussain and Justice Rohul Amin heard the writ petition filed by a local trader Lal Muhammad through his counsel Shahnawaz Khan.

A representative of the KP Culture Department appeared in the court and informed that the Provincial Archives department has already taken the custody of the house of Kumar in mohallah Khuddadad on the back of historic Qissa Khwani bazaar and proper notification has already been issued by the KP government.

The notification of the KP government stated that no one is allowed to make any alteration in the said house nor could sell it out to anyone. After hearing the arguments, the court disposed of the petition and directed the petitioner to approach the concerned department to this effect.

The petitioner Lal Muhammad in his writ argued that the house being affiliated with Kumar in mohallah Khuddadad was his property, which he claimed to have purchased by his father.

He prayed before the court that the order of the government declaring it national heritage should be declared null and void.
