It is attributed that date for his appearance to St. Juan Diego on the hill of Tepeyac in 1531, now the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, this day is very special for all Mexicans and to all Catholics. After miracle of the fourth apparition of the Virgin is celebrated the fact since then, with great devotion
Each year, the celebrations begin on December 11 with the arrival of the pilgrims on foot or by bus, car or bicycle, up to the Basilica. At 12:00 am is done the interpretation of "Las Mañanitas", all this in order to pay tribute to the Virgin of Guadalupe in his day.
Every year on December 11th my family and i walked from my home to the Basilica of Guadalupe that is where be the real and unique image of the Virgin of Guadalupe is. Fatigue is a lot but to see that many people also they go with will and faith, that encourage you to keep going. Many people of good will and with their own money give water or food to pilgrims.
After a few hours of walking and walking feels a great satisfaction to see the Basilica in the distance and knowing that are about to arrive, when you finally reach the temple can pass under the image of the Virgin, at 12 : 00 am is sung happy birthday and ending there are religious mass especially for the Virgin of Guadalupe.

Definitely a very special day for all Mexicans.
