Egypt's Unique Hot Tub: Natural Remedy for Illness

Posted on at

Locals in western Egypt believe that dipping into the sand for a sand bath, especially in the height of summer, can naturally heal various illness.

As temperatures in Egypt continue to climb during summer, Egyptians see this as the best opportunity for, not swimming, but burying themselves up to their necks in desert sand of Siwa near Dakrour Mountain.

Each bath lasts for around 15 minutes. They will then be dug out before moving to a sauna tent. Locals believe that sand bathing can cure illnesses such as rheumatism, joint pain, and infertility.
