EID-UL-FITR is celebrated by muslims at the first day of SHAW'WAAL[islamic month] after the completion of ramadan. SHAW'WAAL is the 10th month of islamic calender. After a whole month fasting in ramadan ther comes EID-UL-FITR which is a very joyous day, it is a true Thanksgiving day for believing men and women At EID-UL-FITR muslims wake up early in the morning,take a bath after Fajr, put on best clothes available and offer SALAT-UL-EID at an open place, this consist of a sermon followed by a short congregational prayer. After the eid prayer Muslims usually scatter to visit various family and friends, give gifts [especially to childrens], and make phone calls to distant relatives to give well wishes. These activities traditionally continue for three days. They make delicious traditional food and sweets at EID.
