Exotic Crescent Lake in the middle of the Chinese desert

         Yueyaquan is a crescent-shaped lake in an oasis, located 6 km south of the city of Dunhuang, Gansu Province, China. Named Yueyaquan Qung Dynasty. Based on the measurements in 1960, the depth of the lake is about 4-5 meters with a maximum depth of 7.5 meters.
        Over the past 40 years, the depth of the lake is shrinking. In the early 1990s, the area shrank to just 5500 m2 with an average depth of only 0.9 meters and a maximum depth of 1.3 meters.
        In 2006, local governments with assistance from the central government of China began filling the lake water and restore its original depth. The lake and the surrounding deserts are very popular among tourists, who usually offered camel or 4x4 ..
