The term hawk is a common name ambiguous that does not correspond to a taxon exact biological, as the terms "  kestrel  ", " hawk  ", "  around  " or "  eagle  ".

"Hawks" are raptors diurnal of the family Falconidae which together with the kestrels gender Falco . They are found on virtually the entire planet, except the polar regions.

In France , include among the known species the Kestrel known for his horsey song ( Falco tinnunculus ), a common bird of prey in the territory, and the Peregrine Falcon ( Falco peregrinus ), which has often been tamed in the context of falconry .

In the religion of ancient Egypt , many gods were hiéracocéphales (falcon-headed).

The name of the city of Capua (Italy) would, according to Servius 1 , commentator of Virgil , the Etruscan name of the hawk,ominous bird observed in the foundation of the city.

The falcon is designated by the former French term esmerillon . Brunetto Latini in his Livre Treasury mentions three species2 . Two of them are small and fast, one being gray, the other black. The last, in white, is the "best" species: it is larger and has the appearance of a kind of falcon Lanner 2 . Swivels are subject to "a disease that makes it eats entirely feet, unless we do it standing on a layer of flax seed or millet thick enough to completely cover the claws" 3 .
