Famous Romanian steam train to be promoted on Google Cultural Institute Posted on 22 May 2015 at 02:07 The Google Cultural Institute has taken an interest in one of Romania’s most popular touristic attractions: the Mocanita steam train in the Northern region of Maramures. Google Cultural Institute officials invited representatives of the Calea Feroviara Forestiera (CFF), which manages the Mocanita, for a meeting in Paris to discuss ways of promoting the steam train, and test latest generation tools. The Mocanita is already part of the Google Culture Institute with a photo gallery from 2014: Mocanita, last of the Carpathian Forestry Railways. h Every year, 55,000 Romanian and foreign tourists go aboard the steam train which travels 40 kilometers at a snail’s pace along the Vaser valley in Northern Romania. The Google Cultural Institute brings together millions of artifacts from multiple partners, with the stories that bring them to life, in a virtual museum. It started in 2011 and it includes the Google Art Project, which features high-resolution images of artworks from museums in over 40 countries.
