Film Genre in the US and Around The World

I don't know you but I have decided to go see 'Burlesque'. I can see some of you rising their eyebrows... Yes, it is Cher. Yes, it is Christina Aguilera. In the same movie. But I can't help it, if there is a movie about either singing or dancing, I have to go see how it is.

This is how I've discovered 'Dirty Dancing', 'Fame', or 'Grease' (yes, i called them 'classics!). This is why I went to see 'Chicago', or 'Nine'. Not all movies related to singing or dance are good though. But you have to admit it is entertaining.

So I was wondering if we are all attracted to a specific genre. Do thriller movies' addict go see every single thriller? Do Disney's fans only wait for new animated films from their favorite studio? This question could also apply to music or books. So I'm asking your opinion here. Maybe sticking to a specific kind of cinema prevents us from discovering new ones. Or maybe you are more eclectic than I am. But I do see other genres. Action movies, comedies... I do not like to go to the movies and end up crying though. So, I avoid very emotional films.

And what about holidays movies? Coming from Europe, I don't know much about Thanksgiving's traditions. I heard something about eating turkey and watching football, but maybe you have typical Thanksgiving movies you can recommend. I'm all ears! And I am sure we will have a post about Christmas movies soon then.

Until then, enjoy your Thanksgiving weekend, watch movies and tell me about them!
