The Trustcare Specialist Hospital with a Fertility Clinic at South Sntresom Kumasi has made medical history with the birth of twins through IVF.

The twins a boy and girl are the result of IVF treatment given to their mother who is aged 45, and has had a decade of being childless according to the clinic's Embryologist, Mr. Kofu Adu.

Mr Adu told the Ghana News Agency there were still many on going multiple pregnancies through IVF that are to be delivered.

This centre is the first that has been established outside of the two cities Tema and Accra, and it has been in existence and operational for more than two years. He expressed gratitude to God for making use of the facility to bless couples who are of need and help, and that amongst the recent patients who have received treatment two are from abroad and are pregnant.

The specialised treatment of IVF which helps couples for different reasons to be ablke to conceive – fall pregnant – was introduced in Tema by the Provita Specialist Hospital during 1990 and since it's opening there have been several IVF deliveries, which have been as a result of treatment from the Accra and Tema centres.
