Génova or Gênova (Zena in Ligurian language) is a city and comune in the Italian region Liguria, Genoa province, with about 639,560 inhabitants (1,510,000 in the area metropolitana1). It extends over an area of 243 km² and has a population density of 2,484 inhabitants / km². It borders Arenzano, Bargagli, Bogliasco, Bosio (AL), Campomorone, Ceranesi, Davagna, Masone, Mele, Mignanego, Montoggio, Sant'Olcese, Sassello (SV), Serra Riccò, Sori, Tiglieto, Urbe (SV).

Genoa is a major seaport that rivals the French city of Marseille in contention for the place of the best port of the Mediterranean Sea. and industrial center whose economic growth and internationalization date of the twelfth and fourteenth centuries. It is also capital of the province of the same name, and occupies a prominent place in the Gulf of Genoa.
