'Ghost In The Shell Online' To Be Released First In The US

In a new video, the developer behind the upcomingGhost in the Shell Online for PC has stated that the game will receive a US release before other regions.

The game is currently being developed by Neople, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nexon, and while it will have initial testing done in Korea the first official release of the game will be in the US.

This new game is also based on the Stand Alone Complex anime series and has also had support fromProduction I.G, the animation studio behind the anime. It also seems that Neople have gone to great lengths to get the feel of the world right, so the final game could be actually decent.

Due to the host work, the game also seems to have a lot of interesting mechanics that have been borne out of the cyberpunk influence. Not to mention the inclusion of various mecha related elements, with the new support setup being notable.

Neople are also boasting that the game will feature over 5,000 possible combinations of cyborg customization. So that will definitely mix things up, as the game is ostensibly a first person shooter, which is already a very functionally standardized genre as it is.

While the below video is predominantly in Korean, there is a nice amount of new gameplay footage and it seems the game is coming along nicely.

As this is a Nexon game and expected to be freemium with it, there’s still no detail on how the payment setup will work. Many fans are concerned that Nexon will overdo the payment model and make this game egregiously pay-to-win. Considering Nexon’s prior track record of similar behavior this is a fairly valid concern.

Despite there being no word on a specific release date as yet, the game is expected to be released on PC sometime later this year.
