It is a salt marsh that is seasonal based in the desert of Kutch district of Gujarat. It is about 7,505.22 square kilometers that share some part with Singh province of Pakistan. It is recognized as reputed largest salt desert in the world and this area is occupied by the Kutchi people. The Great Rann of Kutch beside with the Banni grassland and the little Rann of Kutch on its southern edge is located in the district of Kutch and include some 30,000 square kilometers among the gulf of Kutch and the mouth of the Indus River in Southern Pakistan. Earlier this place was the part of the Arabian Sea until the geological activities continued to uplift the place and closed off the connection between the sea and this place. This caused the vast lake filled with salty water that turned into the salt desert. This desert is known for one of the hottest places in India with the temperature that reaches 41 degree Celsius in summer and peaked temperature of 49.5 degree Celsius. During the winter, the temperature in this desert can drop drastically to 0 degree Celsius or even lower than that. The people who are leaving within this area consist of many different religions such as Hinduism, Jainism, Islam and Sikhism.
