Greek Church (Biserica Greaca) Constanta/ Romania

Greek Church Constanta, dedicated to "Transfiguration", was built between 1869 and 1865 through the contribution of the Greek colonies of the city that Sultan Abdul Azis received approval. The church has no towers, because of restrictions imposed by Turkish authorities who ruled at that time Dobrogea territory compulsory condition imposed for its spiers building being as not to exceed the height of the mosque minaret in Constanta. The building was designed by Greek architect Janis Teodoride and was made of brick and white marble brought from Greece. Until 1900, the Greek Church officiated all jobs occasioned by various events out of the city. This is because it was the first church built in the city, the Romanian was inaugurated only in 1895. In 1954, the church was declared a historical monument and included in the national heritage. At the moment the church "Transfiguration" has the status of a mixed Romanian-Greek parish, jobs are kept both in Romanian and Greek
