The historic Gurkha Fort is situated in Subathu, which is a cantonment township in Himachal Pradesh, India. This fort is positioned at an elevation of nearly 1,437 meters above the mean sea level. This fort was built in the beginning of 1900 AD by the Gurkhas, who wanted to hold a strong position in this region. Later on, the Britishers ruled over this cantonment township of Subathu and the Gurkha fort.

The look of this Gurkha Fort is dreadful and while entering to this fort the visitors may feel like they are in the era of 1900 AD. This is a memorable experience indeed. Still now this ancient fort houses approximately 180 years archaic cannons which were used in the Gurkha battles. At present, the main portion of this Subathu Township is the part of the army cantonment and it includes 14 training centers for the Gurkhas of Indian Army. This town was once among the main Gurkha recruitment centers in the army of British Indian. Nowadays, this township centre is the regimental centre of the Gurkha Rifles in Indian army.

The small town of Subathu is surrounded by picturesque landscapes and is situated about 27 kms away from the Kasauli town. The Subathu town is surrounded by the dense woods of eucalyptus trees, scrubs, bamboos and pine trees. Travelers can choose the diversion route from Dharampur that is approximately 15 kms away from the Subathu town. The Subathu town also includes an archaic viceregal lodge which was built in 1880.

The Subathu town also houses another fort constructed by a traveler, Surat Chand, on the embankments of Gambar watercourse. This fort is about 20 kms away from the Subathu town. This fort is more or less 800 years archaic.
