Hiring retired personnel

Posted on at

The government sets a retirement age for government jobs to ensure that new citizens get an opportunity to work. When an employee retires, he/she creates a new job for a younger citizen. With an increasing unemployed youth population of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the current PTI government should be creating new employment opportunities in the region, but instead the government has hired retired officers from Punjab region to head the various departments in the newly created KPK government owned companies that are the main creators of local jobs.

The retired officers, hailing from Punjab, take over local jobs and spend their salaries in Punjab region, robbing KPK not only of jobs, but also economic activities. Similarly, most of these officers have language barriers and culture differences that make them incapable of doing their respective jobs effectively, resulting in flight of these retired officers mid-way during projects.

Therefore, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is requested to pass a law that prohibits retired personnel and officers from working in government owned and managed organisations. To help train new hires, the law may allow the hiring of a retired person for a maximum of three months only, during which time the retired person is to prepare all the training with written record for future reference. Since retired army officers are also hired by these government organisations, the law should put in force a limit on the number of retired officers that could be hired.

This law will help create more jobs for the youth and citizens of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and stop the brain drain that is forcing many local citizens to leave their homeland for better opportunities in foreign nations.
