LONDON: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Saturday that sooner or later, India will have to consider the four-point peace proposal he presented at the United Nations General Assembly.

Talking to the newsmen at London airport before departure for homeland, the prime minister said he had raised all issues and gave concrete proposals with sincerity for their resolution and reducing tension between the two countries. He said that the proxy war against Pakistan from across the border should come to an end. Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan had evidence of involvement of Indian spy agency RAW in subversive activities in the country and it has been shared with the United Nations. He was confident that the dossier Pakistan handed over to the UN would have an impact.

To a question, the prime minister said international community was listening to the Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir and peace could not be achieved through allegation trade. He said tension in the region affected development process and there was no other method to resolve the issues but dialogue. Nawaz Sharif said both Pakistan and India needed to adopt a balanced approach towards resolution of the issues and sooner the dialogue process starts, the better its results would be.

The PM urged India to stop blame game, saying finger pointing will lead nowhere. “We have put forward concrete proposals for enduring peace in the region with sincere intent. India will have to think on these proposals. Our proposals provide the way forward. India will have to pursue this path today or tomorrow but it will have to come,” he said. Nawaz said the international community have has heard his four-point proposals and these were being heeded by all and sundry. “We not only have raised issues at the UN but also given proposals for their resolution,” he said.

“What India has been doing for the last 60 to 70 years has given us nothing except wars. This has not only affected peace in the region but also undermined development process in the region. All will have to pursue our solid recommendations at every cost. Pakistan and India should adopt balanced thinking,” the prime minister said. He went on to say that atrocities have been committed against Kashmiris in the past several decades. “The international community will have to play its due role for sorting out the problem,” he underscored.

Nawaz Sharif said both the countries should adopt a balanced approach as the animosity has only impeded the development process. “We are a humble people and we pray for mercies on Pakistan in every matter. We have overcome many difficulties with the mercies of Allah. It’s our hope that the PML-N will succeed in upcoming challenges,” he said. Pakistan had on Thursday submitted a dossier to the office of the secretary general of the United Nations on Indian interference and support to terrorism, National Security Adviser Sartaj Aziz said.

The dossier, a set of three documents titled India’s interference and support to terrorism in Balochistan, FATA through TTP and in Karachi, was handed over to the Chief of Staff Susana Malcorra by Pakistan’s ambassador the United Nations Dr Maleeha Lodhi. Responding to a question, Aziz said each dossier comprises 15-20 pages and further discussion on UN action on the documents will take place later. He said the documents contain “solid proofs” and their content may be shared in due course of time.

About Indian foreign minister’s speech at the UN earlier in the day, accusing Pakistan of abetting terrorism while demanding talks, Aziz dismissed the allegation and said “India is trying to avoid dialogue on one pretext or other and since all doors have been barred, we were left with no option but to hand it over the UN secretary general”.
