Iran-Pakistan-India Gas Pipeline

Of the two gas pipelines the Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) more difficult. Since the Indian perception, the IPI is passing through Pakistan. Moreover, TAPI is passing through Pakistan and Afghanistan both.

According to previous Petroleum Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar, the US never pressurized India to drop plan of the IPI. However, New Delhi determined to back out on the project due to IPI has to pass from the rivalry country of India, Pakistan.

IPI pipeline passes through more of Pakistan. It runs through the anxious region of Baluchistan. Pakistan’s problem is that the Iranian part of the pipeline is mostly complete. However, there is no work has started by the Pakistan. In addition, if Pakistan does not complete it before December 2014 than Pakistan has to pay a penalty of 3 million dollars per day. As of today, Pakistan is still not financially stable to build this pipeline. If Iran started taking penalty then Pakistan will financially affected poorly. So far, Iran has constructed its part of pipeline around 900 km. And Pakistan has to complete around 780 km in next few months. Now let us see what happens of the IPI gas pipeline project.
